U17 Girls Earn Promotion to Premier Division

The rising BSC Cardinal U17 girl's team earned a promotion to the NCYSA Classic Premier Division for the Fall 2008 season. This marks the first time in the history of Burlington Soccer Club that a team has progressed to the Premier Division. NCYSA Classic offers Division II, Division I and Premier Division, with the Premier being the highest level of competition in the State of North Carolina. Teams have to earn a spot in the Premier Division based on results from previous season. The BSC girl's had a Classic Division I 2007 Fall season record of 6-1 last year, finishing in second place, which allowed for the promotion to Premier. The team also won the Beach FC Columbus Day Tournament last year, and were the 2006 NCYSA State Cup Presidents Cup Champion and represented North Carolina at the Regional event in June of 2006. The team is coached by Taylor Saxe, one of BSC's Directors of Coaching and former Elon University Men's Socccer standout.
The roster is made up of players primarily from the Burlington and surrounding areas (Mebane, Elon, Asheville and Greensboro areas). This is a great accomplishment for this group of girls and will allow the players with aspirations to continue playing at the collegiate level plenty of opportunities to be noticed by college coaches. Besides competing in the Premier Division this season, the girls will also have an opportunity to participate in college showcase tournaments and play against the best teams from not only North Carolina, but other states as well. This will ensure a competitive level of play that will continue to challenge and develop the girls.
Burlington Soccer Club's continued development of providing the best possible training and coaching environment is starting to pay dividends for the area soccer players. Partnerships with the Burlington Parks and Recreation Department and Elon University soccer programs have been a huge part of the competitive improvement of the Burlington Soccer Club. |
